Nony,
I know, I wont defend the appearance (even if I do like it) due to that being a very personal thing. And yes it would be EASY to change the appearance if one wanted to...

Jim, damn straight its an ARF!! And more so, it will be the best built ARF this side of King Kirkland :P

If it werent for Wayne I would be sitting on the kit untill winter. The two weeks off I had for the model classes put me more like a month behind in my real work... So I will probably be working some overtime the next month.

Wayne does a really good job, good builder and more importantly he preps and covers excellently. It will look better than if I had done it myself!

Andrew, hope I'm not asking a redundant question, been following this post with some interest and the AV8R looks like a perfect jet trainer. Do you mind if I ask how much the kit is to purchase? Thanks.

Guess I don't know much about jets but it looks nice to me!

OK AV8R H8TRS, so maybe it is not exactly possible to turn a sows ear into a silk purse! However, with a little imagination she can be made just a little less homely. Anyway, my C-F/AV8R looks like something our armed forces might just be able to afford!

Dennis, I admire your tastes in paint schemes...you are obviously a fellow of very fine tastes. We will have to fly formation sometime.......

Sincerely, that is a great (and patriotic) look, and it really shows well in the air.

Geez DP01 thats looks GREAT!!

Gary, the kit is well made but what I would call "pricey" for what you get. Its $340 US, with about $40 US for postage. Converted to Canadian and getting nailed with 15% tax it comes out to about $640 when I got mine. Comparatively, I would say it is a lot like a 60 size foam core wing plane, like a Sig King Kobra perhaps, with balsa and ply parts, basic hardware and the foam cores. I guess since the guys selling it is a smaller operation he will not sell as many and has to also recover "design" costs. No matter, untill a larger manufacturer like Sig, Midwest, Great Planes, etc decide to make some jet kits we are stuck (unless of course you want to make your own). The guy who designs and kits the plane, Pat McCurry, is quite nice to speak to on the phone and was very helpfull when I had a slew of questions. Good service sold me on the plane after I decided it was a cool design with great feedback from pilots so far.

I cant wait to try it out, but I still hope the AV8R will come in for landing as nice as the SPAjet does...!

I have my AV8R sitting in my shop. It looks sweet! I will take some photos and post soon.

Now I need to get some time to strip down the engine/servos/plumbing from the SPAjet and fabricate a motor mount and get everything into the AV8R. Looks like it may be another week, if I go to the fun fly this weekend in Quebec...

I tell you, the plane is LIGHT (just under 3 kg's) and I figure hitting the 13 pound mark will be possible.
