How does one check the hall effect sensor to see if it working?

I (actually Cec) has checked the CDI and it works, but we don't know whether the hall effect sensor is doing its job.

The BME 50 is giving us a bit of grief.

Pull the plug, reinsert in the plug cap, and spin the engine over. If it sparks, it should be working fine I assume you have a sheilded plug cap. If not, just ground the plug on the engine.

if it's a two wire or three wire sensor it matters not, you'll need a multimeter or DVOM (digital volt ohm meter) set to the AC setting (the V with the squiggly line under it) Hall effect and permanent magnet sensors basically work the same, they each look for either a rise or fall of voltage.

The magnet versions are analog and produce a sign wave while the hall effect are digital and create a nice square signal (which brings duty cycle into effect)

But just to see if it's working or not rotate the sensor and verify your seeing a voltage change on the signal wire. Keep in mind the voltage will be in millivolts.
