I just got back from a parking lot running my Revo for 1 1/2 hour straight with 500cc of fuel throught it. Mostly at full throttle to see if I get the same problems you are experenceing and I'm sorry to say that I experienced none except that for a tank run I was getting a big jumps in temp when adjusting the HSN, it went from 237 to 278*F on a full tank. But for the remaining 400cc of fuel I had no problems maintaining 245 - 250*F . Like Mirage said and I do notice it with this enigne compared to my T-Maxx's TRX2.5 that it's much more finiky and requires much, much more finer adjustments like a hairs adjustment. But once it was set it ran strong and healthy and no stalling.
So my setting this morning was a constant tempt at around 245 - 250*F and for the LSN pinch test was 3 sec. on the dot counting 1001, 1002, 1003... running a traxxas HD Glow Plug and 20% Sidewinder race fuel. Good luck on your fix. |

That sounds like a good tune, on track conditions would add 10 to 20 degrees on top of that witch falls in the usual 2.5 temp range for racing.I usually have better temps if i am bashing in a parking lot(drag racing, lol!) because of the surface and the constant air flow.

Hmmm... OK, I will assume you've done a "bogs" search on Traxxas forum, lots of info. But a few questions just to eliminate some possibles. Fuel filter? Air Filter? But it's not a stalling issue I know but just asking.
Ok... what fuel are you using and have you tried a different brand? I think you still have a old TRX2.5 before getting that new 2.5R, something about a blown bearing. Anyhow have you tried swapping parts such a the LSN in particular? I know you said this is a new enigne but it's worth a try. From what you've been writing you seem to know the tuning part so I'm leaning towards a faulty part or fuel. Just brain storming here. Let us know and good luck. |

Another question, have you taken the 2.5R apart since you got it? If so are you absolutely sure you put it back together properly?
Again just brain storming here. I'm asking cause someone on this forum was have problems with his TRX2.5 and when I sent him a list it of possiblities, it turned out that he reinstalled the conrod backwards. Instead of the oil hole in the conrod facing the crank he had it facing the backplate. Good Luck. |

Adam,
is it lean bogging or rich bogging? Have you done a pinch test once the engine is up to temp? If you bring engine up to temp and let it sit for 5-10 seconds, then hit the throttle, What is the reaction like? Are you sure the high speed is set OK? Good smoke at top speed? Remember, first set your hig speed needle, then move on to the low speed. It sounds to me like mistune on the needles....... Take your truck out, get it up to temp and do some high speed passes. e sure you are getting good smoke at top speed. Once you have the high speed where it needs to be, then start working on the low speed. Not all engines of the same brand will work with similar settings. I have 2 MT12's and if i take the carb from one properly tuned motor and swap it onto the other, the tune is way off for that engine......So, even factory settings may not work with your 2.5R..... Mike

I have done the pinch test. When i squeeze the fuel line it takes about 5 second to die.
There is good smoke at top end but none on the low. I keep richening the low and still no smoke. Im richening the low en 1/6th turns and still no smoke. I have done high spped passes and it runs at around 250-260. which isnt to hot for a 2.5 engine. I just want it to stop bogging on the low end but im already far from the needle being flush. |

When throttling up after warming up the engine and sitting:
Check for oil leaving the pipe. If it is taking 5 mississippi's to die, then I would guess you are not to lean.......Try leaning the low end to good performance, then redo the high end for smoke at full speed. Here is my analysis.... You are very rich on the bottom end. The crank case is filling with fuel, so when it gets to full speed, it is still drawing fuel from the case, not the carb. At such a rich setting on the low, there will not be an extreme amount of smoke, but there will be alot of raw fuel and oil at idle and when just pulling away. This overly rich lowend would mask a lean top end. Just a few thoughts. Mike
