HELP, please....Irritating problem

Hi Guys.

I have an unusual problem that's driving me nuts!

I have 2 Zenoah G26 EI 's, one on a Rascal 110, one in a H9 1\4 scale S\Cub.
Original ignition changed over to RCXL conversion kit ,timing set to 28deg., CM6 plug, Hayes 16 oz. tank, both motors are the same. They have at least 3 gallons throught them maybe more on the Rascal. The other one saw duty in a Gee Bee for a great many flights had the same problem as described below.

They start great, idle very nicely, good top end...18\6 prop @ 8600...they run flawlessly!
They both have different kill switch arrangements, and different fuel fill arrangements. The plugs are dry and darkish tan colour.

Here is the issue, and it's the same for both engines, when I land and the plane stops at the end of the roll-out,, the engines just shut off!. They will restart immediately and idle perfectly for ever.

I tuned the carbs by leaning the low end until the transition hesitated, then richened 1\16 turn, the top was peaked and backed off maybe 1\16 turn.

Maybe someone has some thoughts on this as I am pulling out what little hair remains!!!

Cheers,
Dave.

Is your fuel sloshing forward as you come to a stop and uncovering the pick-up?

Sounds like a fuel feed problem to me as well Dave. Here's an idea...phone Bill in Abbotsford.

There's still lots of fuel left in the tank, but a Walbro carb will run the engine for quite a while with the fuel line disconnected. Plus, if it was starving for fuel, why does it restart in one flip? Puzzling problem.

Cheers,
Dave.

Cowlled ehh.

The small vent on the fuel preasure regulator see's changing ambient atmospheric preasure. When you come to a stop the ram air preasure inside the cowl changes. Drops, and for a moment the preasure regulator releases a surge of fuel, floods.
The cure is one of those carb vent modifications. I'll look around for a like for you Dave.

But if it is not cowled, ignore me.

Re: HELP, please....Irritating problem

This is the Canadian way.

http://www.thunderboltrc.com/tutoria...ial_seven.html

My opinion, is that indicates not enough cowl exhaust 3:1 ratio exit. Old rule of thumb from the C/L Rat Race days.

Glad to help.
