Trevor just couldn't wait for spring so he had to fire up his new DA 85!

WOW! POWER!

Check it out...

That was on the standard JTEC Wrap Around Pitts muffler with a Zoar 26 x 10 prop.

Nice Jim... I love the commentary!

Folks... the sound doesn't do it justice - it has an awesome throaty snarl !!

In terms of noise, let's just say I won't be making any friends with this one... it's gotta be 100db at idle!! The JTEC standard exhaust is LOUD!!!

Anyone have a canister for it ???

Cheers

Trev

What are you running on it for a muffler and what prop?

I have one to and we are going to try my JTEC High Volume muffler on Trev's enginge this week to see if it is any quieter. Might try a Mejzlic 25-12, 3 blade

Anyone have a muffler from a small car?? - Even that will likely not quiet this monster down!!

After 24 Oz of 32:1 mixed fuel, I gave it a 5 sec burst to full throttle - pig rich, it turned 6100rpm on the Xoar 26x10. I bet once broken in and leaned out, a 26x10 will be way too small for this.

I've seen Sarawnty's spin a Vess 27A at just over 6600rpm, so I think a 27x10 prop will be in order!!

Hi, I am at 3000' asl, I had a jtec standard size(they make a larger one also) on it and it was loud. I now am using slimline on it and it is still loud but better and I think a nicer sound not quite as abrasive. Turning a 26a vess 6500 second tank I need to tune more for sure. I lost the plane it was on due to a failsafe lockout (another story xps). So it is now on its way back from Da all fixed... but I hated to see it travel all that distance alone so I ordered a second da 85. I actually had an original (serial no 52 I think) that siezed up but they just sent me a brand new one. I got about 1 1/2 gallons on theoriginal and it pulled like a monster but never turned the rpm the new one did, and it sounded way different and ran rougher. It's a sweet engine you will enjoy it. Brad

Manny - that high elevation out West will only hamper the performance, so I'll keep it here

My Brand New DA100 should arrive today, so I'll do a little comparison between the DA100 and DA85!!

Cheers

A new DA 100, 3W 106, DA 85

Should try a ZDZ rotory intake valve like the Ski-doo's Have! No midrange Burrble!..will put all them other motor's to sleep!...

Kiddin' aside! I think the DA 100 should out perform the 85. There's 15cc should see a difference! Specialy if you put them on a pair of MTW's

Anyhow! looks like you have a nice collection and i'm GREEN with ENVY!
