Has any one flown one of these? I just got my turbine back from service [thanks Peter] an just have to install and she's ready to go. I had a kangaroo and I am hoping that with the mods they have made to the rookie the bad hopping landings are a thing of the past. I do have the thrust vectoring and canards functional. I have swapped out the oleo struts for trailing links in hopes of sucking up some of the bounce. Any hints or tips greatly welcomed. Regards Jeff T

Re: Rookie 2

Flys well. With the engine lower than the Roo it is easier to take off but you should still get it rolling then slowly advance to full power. Make sure to have a little toe in about 1 - 2 degrees and IT NEEDS POSITIVE AOA. I would strongly suggest that you use low settings or none at all on the canards and no thrust vectoring for your first flights. Get used to the roll and pitch before incorporating more. The Rookie will still bounce on landing if you get behind it. The trick is to always maintain a positive AOA all the way to touchdown. Don't worry it wont fall out of the sky - it just gets mushy. Again be very careful with the canards because if you get too aggressive with pitch she will begin porposing on you. I have flown the Rookie with and without the canards working. Fun aircraft just take little baby steps until you get to know the flight envelop.

Cheers

Re: Rookie 2

Thanks for the advice will keep the canards off for a while. I just love that flat spin it dose with them. I have about 3 degrees of positive sitting on the ground is that enough?
