Re: AP WASP .061 Glow Head

Any way to drill out the existing glow plug and tapping for a standard thread in?

NOTE: Glow plugs use a 1/4-32 thread. A bit non-standard. I had to special order my tap.

Re: AP WASP .061 Glow Head

If the Cox/Norvel stuff fits, you may as well get the Merlin plugs. They are pretty good and are only about $5. You need his clamp ring too. If you can get a conversion plug for the turbo plugs, it would be better than a regular plug, but the Merlin, Cox, or Norvel would still be better than any conversion.

Re: AP WASP .061 Glow Head

Hi,

I have a brand new, never used, RC model, Wasp .061 with muffler still in box with instructions. Price tag is still on it.

If you still need one, please PM me.

Fly4Fun,

Wayne

info@MerlinGlowPlugs.com He makes all kinds of plugs, Turbo, Nelson type, regular style and Cox / Norvel type. I have known Al Kelly since the 1970's, it is his business.

Re: AP WASP .061 Glow Head

I have been using the Merlin plugs in mine for a little while now. I bought three because I kept burning out the original ones. I'm still on the first Merlin plug, and it's still running strong.

If you do get the merlin plug, buy everything. They are the same as a Norvel, so the original AP clamp ring does not fit because the AP plugs are a slightly smaller diameter. I paid about $10 for the original AP plugs. Merlin sells a better quality product at a way lower price -- 3 plugs and a matching clamp ring is about $15.
