Hi, I just got my first electric foamy flying what a blast.

Video Of it flying
http://www.amtelecom.net/~whaydt/Foamy.wmv

Setup is
Axi 2208-34
GWS 8x3.4
Thunder Power 830mah 3cell lipo
Gws Receiver
Phoenix 25 ESC
Custom designed Extra
$9 ebay micro servos

The plane weighs almost 11oz which is heavy but still has enough power for vertical climbs and hovering. I am also working on a new Extra trying to get it under 9oz

Awesome plane! If you throw a AXI 2212/34 with a 11x4.7 weight won't be an issue!!!

Have fun (hovering, harrier etc...)

Nice job Geoff

Looking forward to seeing this fly in the Sault this fall Geoff.
I need to make some calls to see if I can get some indoor spaced for the winter. There is talk of a few guys building some indoor stuff for winter.

Fan Fold

Try a Vinyl siding contractor for smaller quantities, if you want to part with $80 and get enough for 25 or so foamies they sell it at even the smallest RONA hardware stores.

I've used both depron and fanfold. I like depron a lot better and in my opinion it is a lot better. Used 1.5 large sheets of 1/4in (6mm) to build my 3D 33in foamie. AXI 2212/34 with 10x7 APC for power, 3s1500 Kokams. AUW 13oz

The depron is great as you can add a colour scheme with felt markers also.

I order from www.depronusa.com I got nailed on the import duties. Came to $60CAN at my door with duties for 8 sheets.

Still that's only about $12.50CAN a plane. I used 5mm carbon tube for my wing and fuselage spars.

Just finished my new Fanfold Extra 9oz Auw, 30" wing and broken fishing rod for wing spar. For just about $35 Cdn got 200sq feet of foam, thats about $1.50 for the airframe.
