Re: Blue Foamie

I heard over on Wattflyer that the old FFF with plastic on both sides is no longer available? Any truth to this? Is the newer stuff (which supposedly isn't as stiff) just as strong?

It may not be a big deal as I normally have to remove the skin on one side for gluing full fuse planes or bending under cambered wings.

It is very difficult to find the stuff with plastic on both sides. We use the one sided type.It makes it easier for those that mill their parts.

The old bundle I have has the film on both sides.

Since the film peels so easily, I usually remove it where I have glue joints for more bond strength. When cold forming undercambered wings, I also remove it from the underside of the wing otherwise it will wrinkle. In the end, I have very little of the film left.

Since I peel so much of my FFF, I am seriously considering making a hot wire cutter and slicing 5-6mm sheets from 2" thick extruded foam we find here in Canada.

Re: Blue Foamie

Foamies at Hanmer High for Jan 31 10. I thought I would borrow a video camera to try something new. Although it worked, the owner said it took good videos. My question to him is. Why'd you lie?

Next week a better video camera.

Re: Blue Foamie

Thanks to Ron, Andrew and Nathan for driving all the way from Timmins to fly with us today, it was a challenge to keep them from hitting our airplanes...and vice versa...just joking

Re: Blue Foamie

Nice work on the video at the beginning Dan. I tried it once with John's camera when we were both still at CTV and it's not easy (editing tape and pushing buttons is easier). Was fun having the Timmins guys there. Hope Andrew knows the way home and didn't have to follow anyone. Great day of flying and BS'ing.
