Canadian IMAC Nats 2012!!!
Yep, we're already planning for the Canadian IMAC Nats, 2012 Edition! The location has been picked and we'll be posting the date as soon as we can! It will likely be around the same time as this year's Nats so that everyone will have had time to fly a few contests and get up to top form before competing in the big event!
The location is going to be at Arnprior Radio Control Club, about half an hour west of Ottawa! It is an excellent location for flying IMAC with lots of open space and no close neighbors! Dave Hammond (ARCC club president) will be Event Director and I (Tyler Palmer) will be assisting along with Kevin Denton (MAC AND CHEESE!!!) to try and make this event a success! Sponsors: Our first sponsor is DuRant Direct Drive! - http://durantdirectdrive.com/ John DuRant has agreed to provide some very cool gifts for pilots who pre-register once we get the registration up and running! I'll update on the details of the gift once I finalize a couple other things! Carden Aircraft are now in the mix! They'll be sending us some pilot prizes! It certainly will! I'm going to try very hard to get even more basic pilots to come out to this one! We've got a lot of talented pilots in our area that have never tried IMAC! It would be great to get them out to give it a shot! I hope we can count on you guys from Stetsons that tried it this year to compete again! The more the merrier!

Looks like a great venue!!! We'll be there for sure.
P.S. Given the boom of IMAC in the Ottawa region, it could be a good idea to have a 'primer' weekend sometime in the spring in the area... a day or weekend geared toward new and interested pilots to do some setup, trimming, flying and intro to IMAC... Isabel

This was been both a Classroom Only event (Primer), ussually held in Feb/Mar or hands on at the field, (test and tune) held in May or realy early June as IMAC in the the Capitol is historically the first contest in early June.

Hi Tyler P,
Yes I would like to try more IMAC contest. Having 2 contests and the NAT's local would be quite an incentive for me and other local flyer. I was tempted for the NAT's this year but ran out of vacation days for this year. On my part I should have a better airplane for this purpose next spring. The King Cobra did serve me very well but it is kind of small for this purpose. I have a 25% laser 200 (72 inch wingspan) on the go with an Os 120 4 stoke. This plane should give me good sound scoring. |
