Does anyone else own this engine? I am having a horrible time keepping the thing running. 6 volt 2300mah Nhim on the ignition. 16x4 M.A.S. prop on it spinning 8800 rpm's. 20:1 mix ratio. It will run fine and tune the way I want and then a moment later at WOT it misses and sputters like no other.

Re: Saito FG-20 Gasser

I don't own one my self but a good friend of mine did.

He had to send the engine back, it seems that there is a problem with the carb right from the factory. I don't remember the details though.

Call Horizon, they should be able to help you out.

Cheers,

Will

Re: Saito FG-20 Gasser

Again, a friend has one !!!
One of our club members has one, and could not get it to stay tuned. The problem turned out to be in the carb, needle not fitting properly, so it would not hold it's tuning. He sent it back, carb was replaced, and now it is perfect!! He came close to trashing the engine.

Now he is one happy user.

Well I hope it doesn't come to that ...HA. My plan was in hopeing to have a fix at home. Not send away and not get it back till November solution... Guess I'll just have to bite the bullet and send it away...
Cheers guys... Thank you for the help.

Re: Saito FG-20 Gasser

We have one at the field and after sending it back Twice, and switching to a 5 cell pack on ignition it ran like a top. Brought it out the next weekend and the gremlins were back.
They get hot fast and need more cooling then any other engine. They switched to a aluminum engine mount to try to remove heat. Make sure the high speed mis is not from it heating up.

My engine is completely exposed. Mounted it on a 5.5lb profile I made outta coroplast. So not much of a chance of over heating.

I have one of these engines, still brand new in the box, have not had time to test bench yet. The newer carb has a tiny pin hole back of it.

Take care when mounting it, make sure there's at least a 1/4" gap between that hole and the fire wall. It needs to breath.
