New AMR Plane In Development - 42% Vans RV-8

Hey All,

I thought I would show a few "spy shots" of a new airplane I am designing for AMR. This is still a prototype so I have no idea when it will be completed or if/ when it will be available.

But Here Are Some Specs On The New Plane!!!

42% scale Vans RV-8
Power will be 100-150cc gas engine
Weight estimated under 40lbs.
Wing Area 2900"
Working Flaps
Canister Ready

I am hoping to have the design done this month!

It looks like a good start, Kevin. I can't wait to see a finished product.

Re: New AMR Plane In Development - 42% Vans RV-8

Here are some more pictures of the plane.

As you can see horizontal and vertical stab are completed as well as the formers. I have a few gussets to add, a bunch of lightening to do, the ailerons and flaps and the tail feathers left and it will be completed in the computer!

Plug is stabs as well!!!

The entire framed fuselage as seen in picture #1, #2 and #3 weights 3.5 lbs total!!!

Trevor I know how much you like extra weight!

Re: New AMR Plane In Development - 42% Vans RV-8

Awesome!!! Huge fan of the Vans RV's.... built a 40 size Rv4 years ago and also the Trillium Balsa 1/4 scale kit RV 4! Love their slick lines, so sexy.
Good to see Kevin!

Re: New AMR Plane In Development - 42% Vans RV-8

Here are a few more spy shots of development.

The cowl is now done (what a PITA!!!) as well as a different tail configuration and changed wings.

Total weight as it sits in the picture is 15.2 lbs.

Stringers will add 1lb
Sheeting will add 6 lbs
Motor estimated at 10lbs
Servos + batteries 3lbs
Covering and paint 2lbs
Miscellaneous 2lbs

Total = 39.2 lbs

Wing area = 2947 in

That gives 30oz/ft of square wing loading and 6.8 cubic wing loading.

For cubic wing loading here are the ranges.

Slow flyers and thermal gliders - under 4
Trainers, park flyers, 3D - 5 to 7
General sport and scale aerobatics - 7 to 10
Sport and scale models - 10 to 13
Warbirds and racers - 13 and over
