Guys I am looking for colour schemes pics for a new project, specificaly civil registered Curtiss Jenny's from the barnstoming era. Any good B/W or colour pics? Also I would really like to track down some good pics of the Jenny Robert Redford flew in film- 'The Great Waldo Pepper' as so far I have not been able to find any decent pics at all of this aircraft... any advice appreciated...

Cheers-

A classic movie, took me over a year to track down a copy.

This is one of my all time favourite aircraft, I have some documentation and plans for several versions at home. I plan to build a canuck jenny (the one in the national aviation museum in Ottawa) one day... soon... really.

Are you stuck on Waldo's Jenny or are you looking for any docs? A friend recently lent me a hardcover book (long out of print) with tons of information, pictures, drawings etc. entitled "Jenny was no lady"

Waldos Jenny!

Hi Jim, no I have not yet decided which scheme I will go with? it really depends on how my documentation search goes. I do like the pilot 'self promotion' logos/signs down the side of the barnstorming era Jennys and I was hoping i may find some colour pics of Waldos version, but absolutely nothing on it so far??? via my web searching...I may have to buy the DVD to get a good idea of the exact scheme.

It's sad how little documentation from that period exists.

A quick search revealed:

http://www.angelfire.com/va2/aerodrome/jenny/jenny.html
(lots of good links)

Have you tried EAA? Smithsonian? Garber Institute? National Aviation museum? I've found all of these provide excellent service and are familiar with the needs of scale modellers, in fact, most have special services (plans photo documentation) for just this type of research.

I'll check my docs specifically for JN4 barnstormers with advertising markings....

There are some good homebuilt Jennys that would make a fine subject if you're looking to campaign this model....

HTH

Jim.

Check out the latest (Feb) issue of Flying Scale Models. They did a feature story on the Jenny. A 3-view, color schemes and an article on the Proctor Jenny as built by Bill Geisemeyer (stunning model). Here's a pic of my own design Speed 400 Jenny.
