oil in difs question


       Remove this ad - become a site supporter!
i heard peoples talking all over the place
about putting oil in the difs
to make them last longer
can some one here tell me how this is done
like making them leak proff

or point me to a web page that explains this

hmm...well I've not heard of it..but the one problem would be the bearings..I don't think they are waterproof..they would eek...the oil slowly.

Plus they were designed to use grease...

well warlock, this is were buggy knowledge comes in... buggies have 3 diffs filled with oil...most run 5000wt front 3000wt center, and 1000wt rear. The oil is kept in because there is an inside seal... and the bearings are on the outside of the diff over the drive cups.

Use the .41 cal on the tmaxx, bout all its worth...

if your refering to diff lock oil, thats what most people use... here is a link on how to bulletproof the diffs on the savage... in the post there is a link to the diff lock oil i'm talking about... it really imposible to completely seal your diff so that the oil lasts for ever but you can use permatex ultra copper gasket maker to seal so that it lasts a while... i've done this mod to my savage and its worked well...

i heard you have to clean out the greese that is there now
as far as i know
there is no oil in it now when new
you have to do it yourself
