Then they are making a contribution as well. This is another way for people to give back to the hobby and get something in return. I talk about R/C flying with anyone that will listen. My wife just rolls her eyes but she has started to come out and watch me this year a couple of times.... maybe i'm wearing her down.. ha!

Great idea i think!!

Agreed, but they are not being rewarded or recognised.

Handing out payments to some and not others, in a volunteer association, is a very delicate business.

Re: MAAC Sign 3 Fly Free?

One would have to look at the big picture. Unfortunately I believe too many members has the idea that there isn't much, if anything they can do to help with growth as far as the large scheme of things is concerned.

How many ways exist which are capable of bringing in the large numbers of new members our hobby/sport so desperately needs? The only enity that has a large financial stake is the profit oriented RC aeromodeling industry and they have no choice but to depend on the non profit oriented club promotion/training system.

Safety in numbers. What's the best way to bring in those numbers and ASAP? After all, right now, our hobby/sport desperately depends on mass and rapid growth.

Question is for everyone is: Are you part of the problem or part of the solution?

Re: MAAC Sign 3 Fly Free?

Yes that explains it a little better. A person that doens't have the time available to make a large commitment like getting on MAAC committee's can still make a huge difference. I have found that most people are interested and think that this hobby looks like a lot of fun.... but they are under the misconception that it is very expensive to get into. Just by having a conversation with someone you could pique their interest and who knows where it will go from there. In the last 3 months i have bought 3 radios for guys getting into the hobby as they had no idea what to purchase so i helped them out. and have helped 1 guy get back into it after being out for about 15 years. I was on the verge a couple of years ago of getting out of it all together, now that there are some guys to fly with it makes it so much more fun and i'm more involved than i ever have been.
