Acording to roar, Canada is a region, and according to the powers to be Canada can have roar races ( and name them Canadian nationals) but this race are not the Nats. And as Canadians we do not really need to qualify, as long as we have a Valid roar membership and the funds... Any one can really go to the worlds, Canada has a few alocated spots, Ty takes one, the rest......

Re: SAVE THE DATE! ROAR 1/10th Off-road Canadian Nationals

The sign up for the 2nd annual offroad champs race end of July is on rcsignup. That's the race with close to 275 entries . Only a couple of weeks away now.

38 1/8 ebuggy entries
69 1/10 4wd buggy entries
78 1/10 2wd buggy entries
31 2wd SC entries
43 4wd SC entries
19 Stadium truck entries

I will get more info regarding the ROAR race start of August. The date is October 26-28. I know the info will be on the ROAR sites early August as well.

Good god, that's awesome to see! Never had those numbers back in the day even.

Now if only we could find a way to translate all that interest into tracks in Toronto... Or the surrounding area.

Thanks Tom!

Re: SAVE THE DATE! ROAR 1/10th Off-road Canadian Nationals

Toronto is a tough place to have a big race seen. Toronto is very expensive to live, own a business, and even the entertainment costs are higher.

Not to mention people who live in the GTA don't like to travel across the city!

It's the same in the US, you don't hear of much racing in New York City or LA. All the big tracks in southern california are atleast 45mins from LA.

Anyway, looking forward to Average Joe's this coming weekend and the big 1/10th scale race in ottawa the week after!

Re: SAVE THE DATE! ROAR 1/10th Off-road Canadian Nationals

Ok excuse my 'old school ways'... I'll catch up to the way things are run now eventually.

However what the devil is 'open' class? Roar has always been stock, super stock, Modified, etc with beginner, novice and sportsman drivers etc.

I assume this is a class created due to low attendance and not enough drivers to create the standard Stock 17.5, Superstock 13.5 and modified classes? Hence it's open and 'run what ya brung'...

Just looking for clarification.

Thanks!

Re: SAVE THE DATE! ROAR 1/10th Off-road Canadian Nationals

The reason for the open class only, is to have all racers in one group. You can run a stock spec motor, stock spec motor with boost, or a modified motor. Doesn’t matter.

Getting all racers into a class creates a depth of field. So you will race/qualify with racers of your skill level. In Canada we don’t have the driver pool of the USA, nor do we have 100’s of pro guys that need to be separated from the novice/sportsman racers.

I would like to use the practice lap times to seed the qualifying heats, in efforts to make racers of all skill levels comfortable.
