Hi Steve.

Building one of these myself. Looks like you got a lot done in a short amount of time. Been working on ours for a while. Tail section done, outer wing panels done and we are now working on the center section. Have the Robart retracts and have just ordered two US 41 engines! Hope to have the center section done in a couple of weeks then we start on the fuselage.

Keep the pictures coming...

centre section

Hi Pete: Quite a project isnt it.I too am also working on the centre section. What kind of fuel setup are you planning on using? At first I was thinking of using 2 -16oz tanks but now I'm thinking of going with a 50 oz main centre tank. The top of the tank would protrude through the top of the wing centre section sheeting, but I'm not detailing the aft interior cabin anyway. There are more pics and comments on the Ziroli DC3 at RC Universe under the twin and multi engine forum.Check it out also.Steve

radial

Radial engines would be nice eh?Im just trying the 170 Saito on for size and its just a bit oversized for the cowls.Although one could make the cowls a bit larger I guess....I like the gassers for relability however....

Sweet looking plane! It'll look nice with that scheme too. Some weathering and you'll have show material. But those Saitos would sound soooo nice. 1 sounds nice but can you imagine the sound of two? As far as reliability, when broken in they should purr. Keep us posted as your project progresses.

Steve, we are going with the two 16 oz tanks and setting them in the two bays next to the center bay. They will slightly protrude above the top of the c/sec. Talked to Nick Ziroli at Toledo last April and this is how he suggested. It would allow ample flying time with two US41 engines. I don't imagine a problem with one 50oz though. We're running fuel line to the engines, one to the next outer bay with a fuel dot for filling/emptying and a vent line running straight out the bottom of the wing at the fuel tank position.

Great information developing at the R/C Universe forum, thanks for the info.

Is that your Challenger U/L???
