this year another super corn crop in the states 13.1 billion bushel. 3.5 billion went to produce ethonolthe rest was used for livestock feed export and domestic use.i agree does not leave much for ethonol expansion unlesswe go hungry.but it sure has helped the price of corn at the chicagostock exchange

My head hurts. I don't know if I can hang out with you any more I feel mentaly challanged! Just kidin! This is what I love about RCC.. We have such a diverse and susbstantial knowledge base here.. it is never dull. Trev, Seriously thanx for the indepth explenation. I am so ignorant I didn't even know Ethenol was made from corn. But now I know why my niblets cost so much more. The green Giant is just rolling in dough these days. H... Ho.... Ho.! Hey get back to that Yak and Get ER' Done!

Alcohol contains slightly less energy than gasoline, and fewer impurities. This sounds like the everlasting synthetic oil debate. Quote:
Yep... I've seen calculations that suggest approximately 3% less fuel ecomony on an E10 gasoline vs an E0 gasoline. When GTA went to E10 in March, I tried to monitor my car's fuel ecomony and could only statistically see about 1% drop (my heavy foot doesn't help!!). |

Yet Brazil is in a very good position by going mostly ethanol - they are not dependent on a war in Iraq to control their economy (like the United States).
The whole concept is to burn cleaner fuels, like ethanol. Hydrogen would be best, but wastes too much electricity to produce it yet. Natural gas is a not too bad alternative.
