I did the testflight on a fellow modellers Seafury, his Pride and Joy!
Micheal is 15yrs old, crazy about the hobby, as most of us were at 15 (us lucky ones were already into models by then). A gift from a close relative (uncle?). He did everything right as per our prefight, including sending it home once to be re-ballanced. Engine broke-in properly, running great.
Lift-off, flyout looking great, end of the field a total radio lose! I havn't had that fearful fealing in many years. He did a proper range check, I really suspect his switch. But more to the point. Looking DOOMED!, it flew diving full throtle down below the trees at the end of the feild. Surprise!, it surfaced, control was re-established. I flew it back set up for a landing in the crop at the end of the feild. The Starbourd wing was in the semi-folded position, if it was a carrier bound Seafury.
Scary, but it did fly well.

My point is that this arf was assembled with no, zero glue on the deheidral brace joining the outboard panels. Simply glued end ribface to end ribface. We looked at the other panel, with little trust, same. Obviously the standard not a missed step in the process.

Micheal will have it together quick, I'm sure of that. When a young man works so hard for his money to enjoy our hobby. It seam unfair that the luck of the draw turns out this way.

Not good Dale! He could get the impression that ARF's are a bad investment!

Are you going to start him out on an E glider... or maybe the Seniorita?

Max, that sure is. You must recougnise the point of view. Directly behind Micheal is the barn filter pond, Lake Max!
Mervin, Micheal was eyeing up my seniorita in the trailer. Given enough time this past weekend I know he would have loved to have had a go at it. He is well invested in HobbyKing electric ARF's, being so remote. Mail order, China is as close as anywhere.
Anybody up for a day of gliders mid August? I'm ready to sit back deep in my chair and do an hour of staring up.

Good save Dale, Might have been a different story with someone alone or new at the sticks. A good tale to tell around the campfire.
