No doubt with the Bobcat... but remember I have big @ss gear hanging down in the breeze with a thick wing and dirty airframe. But 130 -140 aint bad... for the time being!

i agree with what everyone is saying here especially since i have a funtana myself..... these planes are not meant to be fast...they are meant to be able to do everything the pilot wants to do and then some, but at a slower speed.....

if you want a fast plane, then go out and get a pylon racer, or some type of jet that you can modify to be a pusher or something like that.....

torque and power good
speed........very bad

Talk about a false statment with this story
Sorry BUT

Airplanes these day that are smaller pushed to the limit for 3d is just like our big Scale Aerobatic Gasers we fly.. Respect what you have and THROTTLE BACK
False statement huh, this had the recommended evelution 46 in it and was flying at 1/2 to 3/4 throttle when it happened.

I never over power anything I own, I put into my planes what the manual suggests.

I repeat.......Power-GOOD
Speed-BAD

It's not the engine size that matters.
It has to do with the speed the plane is flying, the tightness of the linkages, the strength of the servos, the prop you use, the hinge gaps, the weight of the control surfaces.
It's not a weakness in the airplane structure itself, but in all of the components. Any weak link can allow flutter to start, and flutter will tear everything apart, no matter how well built it is.
So many times hinges are blamed as the culprit, but it is really some other weakness that allows flutter to happen at a certain speed, and flutter can tear out the BEST hinge job.
A 3-D plane with the recommended engine in level flight at 3/4 throttle COULD be overspeed for a given setup. Not saying this is what happened to yours, but it is possible.
The guy doing 100MPH with a 3-D plane in the first post, just is not to wise, I'm afraid.

I completely agree 100%. I've got a funtana 40 with a Saito 100. It's way overpowered but I only use full throttle on uplines and even during uplines i don't use full throttle all the time. It'll hover at 1/3 throttle so it is definately overpowered. Alot of guys I talk to say "It won't hold up" or "You'll rip the wings off of it" but they don't understand the concept of THROTTLE MANAGEMENT. All of the guys that say this are the kind of guys who take off at full throttle and fly at full throttle until it's time to land. There's nothing wrong with that but it's just a matter of personal preferance i guess. Just imagine getting in your car and going on the highway and holding the pedal all the way down until you get to where you are going.

Were going to keep on hearing of this "airplane was built like crap" saying more and more in the future. Uninformed people are gonna get their first 3d type plane and try and fly it like a quick sportplane and they're gonna get angry beause it was "build like crap". I have seen many guys flying profile planes who fly them wide open 90% of the time.

I understand what you are saying, and again I'm not putting the plane down, I love how it flew for the little bit I did get to fly it, but this plane has been compared to 8 other funtana 40's and mine is the only one that is built like this with the notches going 3/4 of the way into the stab. Not one other plane was like this.

All this says to me is I was the unlucky one who got a bad build. I could have just as easly bought one that wasn't like this and still be flying it. I've talked to horizon hobby and they admit that it was not built correctly. They won't replace it but at least they admit it.

The only reason I had put out a warning is so that those who have this plane would take a look and see if it was built right or not. It was not so much for my own benifit as it was to benifit those from not seeing the same thing happen to thier plane. I plane on rebuilding the plane this winter and flying exactly as I was before but with a better structured stab.

3d manuvers and even scale areobatics barley have any manouvers in which you are full throtle.

If they (Horizon) admit that it was not built properly, why the heck won't they replace it? The warrantee DOES cover that!
I think you need to speak to someone higher-up at Horizon.
Start with the Hobby shop where you bought it, and work your way back up the line until you get satisfaction.
Keep us on this forum informed of how you make out along the way. Don't accept any lame excuses of why they won't replace it, be polite but PERSISTANT!
