Assembled a Nexstar but after going throught the manual a few times I can't locate where this part belongs. Wrote Hobbico but no reply from them so the puzzle is what is this item for???

Anyone up to the quiz as I'm at a loss.

Interesting. It's not listed on the parts page either. And there's only one of them?

That part goes on the bottom of the fuselage and the sensor for the anti crash whatever attatches to it.
Personally I took all that crap off and just used that piece to cover the hole.
I will see if I can find a pick.

You can see the sensor on the bottom of the fuselage between the 2 wheels. The sensor is attatched to that bracket.

Yup, Like Mark said, it is for the AFS sensor on the bottom. Mine is laying in a box also and I covered the hole with a piece of white covering.

Where the heck!!!!

I have assembeled a few of these planes for new students. I recall that it might be part of the Active Flight Stabilization system. I just can't remember excatly where it goes. Does the sensor for the system go throught the hole and the two out side holes are part of the mount that holds it in plane on the fuselage, it has to go inside the on the fuse bottom.

Hope this helps or maybe your more confused than ever.

Dave Arenburg.

Normally the AFS is preinstalled on this plane.....if that's the case you have an extra part. When I put mine together last year I had a mystery part that I never found where it belonged so I just set it aside.....flew the plane all summer.....usually 3 to 4 flights a day 5 days a week and no adverse affects...........

Well that makes sense. The plane I have is the ARF not the RTF. It looks like they have included the part even though the AFS system is not included with the ARF. I have no plans to use the AFS but thanks to all for you time to reply.

I also noted that one wing had the red stripes all the way around the wing tip and the other had the red striping only on the upper surface.

Rather than send it back I removed the lower stripe on the offending wing for orientation purposes. I am happy with the plane in terms of construction and overall appearances. If it flys as good as it looks things will be grand.

Smashed up a hand built giant telemeaster this summer after much joy with it BUT am going to keep at it for some warped reason. Just hate to chance another hand built Tele , rather les emotional and time investment with an ARF.

Once again thanks for the help with identifying the part. Hate to think I missed something critical.

Sincere best wishes to you all.

Kirk

Just a giggle

Just received a reply from Hobbico. They said the part was for the wing release system. So much for a support reply....... but at least they did reply even if the info wasn't accurate.

That's actually a compliment to your collective wisdom as you guys know your stuff. With a closer at the bottom of the fuselage I could see an area under the monocoat that precisely matches the part at hand.

As I said previously the sharing of your wisdom is greatly appreciated. If I were to rely on customer support I'd be still scratching my gourd.
