Looks very much like a "Pegasus" By Thunder Tiger. Mine had a plastic or nylon main gear, but otherwise very close. FWIW.

Re: He's one for ya all. What is it??

Unless I'm mistaken, that would be an RCM Trainer 60 (from the 70's). The symmetrical wing gives it away.

Re: He's one for ya all. What is it??

No, not the PT60.
The PT60 had a flat bottom wing.

This one is called The "Trainer 60" from Great Planes. It has a fully symetrical wing.
The Trainer 60 was my first kit and trainer that I got my wings on about 17 cough cough years ago. I had a K&B 61 on mine.

If they were still available, I would recomend it over Sig LT40's anyday.

I think I agree with our friend, that it is an RCM Trainer. I still have plans somewhere for it. One of the best flying machines in its day, and can still give a good run for any ones money IMO. I gave one away about two years ago, to a new club member, and he was trained and indeed got his wings with it !.I built it over 20 yrs ago, maybe more. It was dried out a bit, so it did not survive his-first major mishap, and was not really worth fixing again. Thats my 2c worth. Hope it helps. Dennis.

Re: He's one for ya all. What is it??

I didnt want to let it out but I bought the plane ready to fly with the 61 Super Tiger cough cough... 15 years ago. Love the way it flys theres a large soft spot in the wing flys smooth. Just wanted to call it something.

As for the drying out the wood I have a Cub of the same era and I dont know if i should fly it cause I love the looks of it and will be sad if i break it.

Thanks for the info guys I knew you could help me.

Re: He's one for ya all. What is it??

RCM trainer has a rounded front tank cover, does it not (man its been a long time since I had those drawings out).

My vote is for the trainer 60 also. But to make sure would have to grab an 80's or early 90's copy of MAN or RCM as they had a lot of full page ads for that series of trainers.

I am away from home untill next Thursday though... anyone else want to check?

AJC

PS kinda has the looks of the Ace Whiz 40 too, but that wouldnt have a 60 on it and was a taildrager, and a flat bottom IIRC.
