It is a bit of a problem as this whole aspect of modelling is moving ahead at such a pace that it's rather difficult to just keep up, let alone become familiar with all the jargon. By the time a book is published, a lot of the stuff is old hat. Just MHO! There are many sites on the Web that are a good source of info if you browse.

Bob Boucher's, Electric Motor Handbook, published by Astroflight is stilll relevant and a very good source of basic info on proper motor selection. I think it's in its 2nd or 3rd edition right now.

I highly recommend it, plus it's commonly available through local hobby shops.
