1,532 Battery questions in 12 seconds

Lol, just kidding. however...

Pros and cons of doing a cycled burn in with new LiPo. Is it necessary?
When they ship, are they shipped with the storage voltage? Is there something I should be doing when they first arrive? (arrived without instructions)
How long does storage voltage last in terms of days?
What happens if the batteries are not discharged?
Is there a good link where I can get accurate information (as there are many varying opinions).

Thanks in advance.

Re: 1,532 Battery questions in 12 seconds

No need to ever cycle a LiPo.

Shipped with storage voltage. Charge to full 4.2v per cell and run it.

Storage voltage is maintained for a very long time.

Batteries should always be placed at storage voltage if not used for more several days. Radio Control Info . Com in the lipo section will give you a brief summary.

Re: 1,532 Battery questions in 12 seconds

New question... as I have looked at the varieties and revues on transmitters.
Here are some results:

Points Radio Name Distance in Feet
1 Futaba 4PKS 1233 feet
2 Futaba 3PL 1058 feet
3 Traxxas TQ 2.4 with Link 840 feet
4 Tactic TTX-240 808 feet
5 Spektrum DX3S 620 feet
http://www.bigsquidrc.com/2-4-ghz-ra...t-radio-range/

Futaba 3PL 2.4Ghz
http://manuals.hobbico.com/fut/3pl-2...hss-manual.pdf

I see there are a few advantages of moving up in transmitters, so am wondering if they are easily changed over in the boat. Is it an easy task?
Amy recommendations other than what I've read so far?

Re: 1,532 Battery questions in 12 seconds

620 feet = two football fields, you must have good eyes to want more than that.

remove your (any) tx battery and hook it up to a fast charger

look at latency times for all these radios, look to see how long the battery lasts, check the weight, go to hobby store and see if ou like the control layout...

I wonder how he keeps those wires (hanging out) from breaking at "366 mph".

Re: 1,532 Battery questions in 12 seconds

As far as radios go, I can't live without a radio that has good settings features. The 4PKS you have listed is a fantastic radio but on the upper end of the surface radio segment. The one I use is the 4PL and it is as much radio as most people can make use of in regular or racing use for half the price of the 4PKS. The receivers are also cheaper on the 4PL, as they use the FHSS system instead of the FASST. FASST receivers are around $100 and up, each.

The thing I like most about my 4PL over some of the others is the size of the screen and the menu system. Most of the other radios in the same price range have small screens that use 3-digit acronyms for the settings names, whereas the 4PL has a large screen with full names and graphical display for trims. Most of the important settings like dual rates and trims are easily adjusted on the fly, as well.
