Another good flying day

Weather was perfect. My "attack" basset hound Fang came with me to the field to watch.

Fodder and I were trying inverted tail touches with our trusty old fazers. He suceeded first (though loss of the stab when the plane hit the runway and broke the prop probably lowered his score a bit )

I then touched, gave some down elevator, flipped the plane over and landed. Man, talk about a rush, certainly the lowest I've personally flown inverted. I even had a piece of grass stuck between the stab and the rudder

All in all we had a hoot. Probably not too many days like this left so remember to take advantage of them

Bob

Ya, I was concentrating so much on watching the tail and got excited when it touched that I forgot to raise the nose so the tail would touch on the back of it. Oh well, next weekend we'll have a video camera going.

Some minor gluing and I'm ready to go.

Are you using flaperon mix? I thought when the rudder was on the ground, the flaps would assist the plane going back up.

Man, it was really windy here today (60km gusts) no flying!

another great day of flying

I personally got some flying in this morning. What a great day.
I decided to take a trip up to the tillsonburg club and do some flying.I flew my ultimate bibe 4 times and my corospit 1. Now if the people that were nagging me to fly "balsa", were there at the flying field and not doing other things they would have some something to talk about.

I have been testing and working out the bugs on my fleet of coro spitfires. The other planes in my hanger don't see the air as much. But I have to say all my planes have seen the air this year.

I went to the Kitchener Scale Rally today. It was the best weather for this event in the last 5 or 6 years. What a beautiful day it was!!

There were a number of beautiful aircraft flying! Some of these planes were detailed to the limit! Man, the planes just seem to be getting bigger and bigger. One fellow was taking his 40% plane to the flight line and I commented on his colour scheme and said it looks so good on a large plane like that. He said he has 4 planes and that this one was the smallest of the lot! Hmmmm! I am just blown away at how nice big planes fly! Can't wait to get my 34% ( just a little guy but big for me) Edge 540 with the DA100 out flying!

The bad news, another first for me, was seeing a 44% scale aerobatic plane hit the ground at full throttle from 50' ! It instantly disappeared into a pile of balsa sticks! The good news.....the pilot and all audience people walked away without a scratch!

Well I hope, as do all of you I'm sure, that we have at least a few more good days like this before the summer/fall ends and the snow comes! Enjoy it while it lasts friends and safe flying to all!

Man, it was wicked here and I thought a few trees were going to come down with the winds...

Gary, remember for some of us the snow comes sooner than later...

But I have a lot of things to take care of before the winter... I decided to try and get that Extra I got from Wildbill up before the snow flies, and have allready gotten the three new battery packs for it, a new Bisson muffler for my Brison 4.2 and all my servos. Just waiting for the new JR PCM receiver to come from Great Hobbies and I can get it ready (I hope) for our family fun day, at the end of Sept.

This year I have a number of engines still that I need to get flight tested before the winter, so I am trying like heck to get out and flying!!!

Oh yes, I certainly do remember Andrew! Thats why I said "I hope for a few days at least of good weather before the snow flies!"

And besides, when I lived in Larder Lake, I loved to get out in the snow on the lake and fly when ever I could during the winter! I use to get out at least a couple of times a month even at -15 F. Planes just love the denser cold northern air! But not everyone likes flying in the finger numbing cold for sure!
