This inverter at Princess Auto for $49 is 600 watts is in the surplus section. Drives my laptop charger great, also soldering gun, soldering irons, covering iron and Dremel rotory tool all from a cigarette lighter plug as supplied with the inverter. Also supplied are extra fuses and a heavy duty cord with battery charger type clips.

When buying inverters make sure they are full sine wave as the modified sine wave does not gove a full 110-120 volt ac output. My understanding is that 110vac transformer operated items can burn out the 110vac power supply. May work on ac motors ( with reduced power), heating applications like soldering irons , toasters, curling irons and the like. One way to check the sine wave type; if it does not specify, is to use a voltmeter (set to ac) to read the AC voltage . You will fined that on modified sine wave that voltage will be down in the 90 volt range rather than 110-120 vac.
