Re: This winters build projects??

I'll have a couple ongoing projects over the winter.
1. ESM Hawker Typhoon 120 size. Full composite airframe that I will convert to electric. I have a Turnigy SK160 with a 100Amp HV ESC for it and it will be running a 10S lipo setup. I will also be installing a Robart retractable tail wheel gear to replace the fixed one. when completed, it should weigh in at around 20lbs.

2. ESM Lavockhin LA-7 45cc size. Composite fuselage with built-up balsa and ply wings. 80" wingspan. again, I will be converting it to electric. The plan is to use an E-Flite Power 160, a Castle Creations 160amp HV ESC, and run a 12S lipo setup. Like the Typhoon, I also plan on installing a retractable tail wheel setup to replace the fixed one to make it scale.

GP Eagle 580 46\ep to rebuild firewall and fuselage

Re: This winters build projects??

Priorities for me are:
1) Finish tidying up and pujtting everything back after getting the floors refinished.
2) Painting everything that wasn't refiished or painted when the floors were done.
3) Rebuild the basement.
4) Rebuild my workshop (located in the basement but not part of #3)
5) Rebuild the Escapade (?)
6) Start the Strikemaster kit the I acquired from Colin. (Muy gracias!)
7) Start another Arrow or build the Lancastrian.

Re: This winters build projects??

The only thing that I am planning to build is a Sig Mini Pitts Special. However, I am going to continue to fly everything else!!! Put skis on all of them, and keep flying.

Re: This winters build projects??

Well I always go to the Kamloops indoor in March to visit old friends so this year I want something to fly. I am not into foam so I was planning a Westland Widgeon & Piper Pawnee both about 32". Plans for both are on the way.
I have a part built Curtiss Reid Courier but I can't join up the fuselage till I have the engine. So a new Saito gas will be my Christmas present to myself.
And if I am really ambitious I'd like to do a Piper Pawnee around 90" as my first big bird. then spend the summer learning to handle a bigger airplane.

Re: This winters build projects??

Right now I'm building a 75" Edge from scratch from the plans of my Stevens Aeromodels 50" Edge that I blew up 50%. That will take me into early winter. It's going to be covered in the Castrol Aviator colour scheme which I think is fantastic (see pics.) Then I will definately get into a project I started almost 2 years ago to build a Fox Moth from a plan I bought from England. Likley that will take until February when I will get into the Carl Goldberg Extra 300 kit I have in the basement. Fairly soon I will also take a couple of days to fix my e-flite Beaver which had an "incident" in the summer. I find it flies better on skis than wheels & sure as eggs are eggs we'll have some white stuff by mid-November.

Of course this is all contingent on not having to spend too much time fixing my everyday flyer - a 25e Stik - so we can keep flying through the winter as the weather permits.

Re: This winters build projects??

Somewhere in amongst my planes, I also must fit in removing all the carpets in our large living room, and install new wood floors.
Plus also take down some walls in the basement, redoing a family area. My son is moving out (finally) and his old bedroom is coming down and that potion of the basement made into a family room instead.

Plus renovate a very large hall closet into a pantry/closet area with 3 swing doors.

Re: This winters build projects??

If I get my basement and workshop whipped into shape then first on the list would be to repair my SSE. I would really like to get my Primo on the table as well.
