Anyone own a Black Horse F4U Corsair?

Hi guys,

Any local reviews on the Black Horse F4U Corsair 50/62cc? I wonder how it will compare to the ESM 50cc Corsair in terms of quality of hardware and wood?

Comes with retracts for approx $800 CAD plus shipping from the UK. Apparently 18.5 lbs, and Seidel 7Cyl radial fits in there and it balances with no weight added in the nose.

Further, does anyone have experience with items purchased out of England?

Thanks for any info.

England is going to be pricey.

I did find a US source
http://www.gravesrc.com/BLACK_HORSE_.../glo159577.htm

If you can get USPS to ship it might be cheaper than UK (?)

Shipping within the US is dirt cheap, I usually get my stuff sent to my US office and pick it up there when I head down. I save a bundle. Otherwise, there was a thread here about a US holding address where you can have stuff shipped there and they charge you 5 or 10 bucks to hold it for you, then you pick it up. Not sure where you are in Sask, but it may be an option if you head down across the border every now and again.

I have read the reviews of this plane and it handles very timidly. Of course, the larger the better, and this one handles take-off's and landings like it was on rails.

Re: Anyone own a Black Horse F4U Corsair?

Thanks for the tip Max. I've been to Graves RC when I was in the US last time on holidays...Man, what a place! I had died and gone to RC Heaven!!

I've driven to Noonan, North Dakota to pick up my Extreme Flight 88" Yak a few years back, so I'll probably do the same!!

From what I have read, this one does fly very gently, but there may some minor QC issues with it. Nothing major. Maybe it's worth a shot...

Now, to Radial or not to Radial..!!!!?

Oh man.. I too have been drooling over the Seidel Radials. They sure look good and sound great. But for my money I would rather put a 50CC gas engine that is simpler mechanically- less things to go wrong and less work to service. That is of course, unless you LIKE to fiddle with an engine....

Just watched this video of the BH Corsair....check out minute 2:09 when he's taxiing back in and watch the landing gear!! Look a bit flimsy for a warbird in my opinion....
