So that's dynamic soaring?

Well, I guess I won't be getting in line to try it. I can barely keep track of the plane when somebody else is controlling it!

Who would have believed that kind of speed could be obtained that way?

oh, oh, Keith, I hope the Americans don't see this....the AMA has a 200 mph limit in place for the jets, now they have another issue to deal with!!....Ron

I am sure the AMA is fully aware of this, amd gliders have been breaking 200mph for a long time, certainly before Dynamic Soaring came about.

One thing that sets the gliders apart is that the only way you get really good speed up in dynamic soaring is to keep the track of the plane really consistant once you've found the groove. The second you get off line you bleed off speed like crazy.

A stable Jet, on the other hand, can hit terminal velocities with only a little help from the pilot. (ABSOLUTELY NOT INTENDED AS A DIG) Besides, a 200mph speed limit is unenforceable (is that air or ground speed?)

Keith, I was just kidding a bit in my post.....comparing gliders and jets is like apples and watermelons for sure....weight, fuel, fire, come to mind right off the bat....

this whole high performance glider thing is sure amazing though.....Ron

UNderstood Ron - perhaps a kinetic energy limit is what is needed
