hi
i can't seem to find any info on a .40 sized house of balsa pitts special. does anyone have anyinfo on this kit, has any one owned it? i beleive it must be discontinued, as i can't find it for sale anywhere. i like to read reviews, but i can't find one.

i just bought this plane at our club's swap meet, and am kitting it out this week.

HOB did make a Pitts, it was discontinued many years ago. The kit was based on RCM plans by Robert Brantley.

I built this plane from plans and used a TT46 for power. The plane flew well but it was a little on the heavy side. It can be very 'squirrelly' if the CG is aft, like many bipes it has the glide ratio of a pair of pliers. Keep a little power on for landing.

The plane does very nice inverted flat spins, & blenders.

I sold the plane at an auction, there are days I wish I still had it. It's a fun airplane.

thanks carl, i was wondering about it, i couldn't find any info with my searching. i bought it at a swap meet, and didin't get any info about it when i bought it. i think i was suffering from post plane purchass or pre-maiden flight gitters.

nice to hear from a newf, I am from Little Heart's Ease. i've tried to make it to see some planes when i was home the last few years. i just missed the one that ( i think ) was at Harbour Grace a couple of summers ago, strong winds though i think.

heavy for a tt 46? i was hoping my os 40 works well. i'll keep people posted if anyone cares.....

Are you intent on this particular model of the Pitts?

I have a Marutaka Pitts S2 kit I'm about to start... I can't remember the details (it's been under the bench a long time) but I believe it's in the .40-.60 size range.

If you're planning on a 'flying R/C vacation' the festival of flight in Gander is a lot of fun first weekend in August.

My bipe was heavy for several reasons, foam wings (my first cores) scratch built FG cowl very heavy and poor selection of wood. It was my first plans built plane so I made a few mistakes.

I'm sure the kit will build up much lighter.

well, i've tried to fly it, and the first day i ground looped, then fixed the fin and tried again the next day.

the second day, i don't know what happened. self doubt has set in and now i think i may have tried to fly too slow, pulled off the grass to early.

i wanted a hatch in the fuse anyways, will try again this weekend if not sooner.

is this the embarassed emoticon that feels like everyone is saying i told you so? i'm gonna try again anyways. gonna get some graphics for it too, and name it after my boss(wife) chantalle. "A Plane Too Chancy"

got my manhood back. i flew and landed it.

i'm a real modeller now.

i've bought too much plane for me to handle, then ground looped and repaired, then crashed like a lawn dart...repaired, and finally flew it and landed.
