Fokker
Had some WW 1 aircraft come in from Abbotsford BC this week and this 1/4 scale DR 1 is one of them. Bought this from a good old friend Tom Hammond who built the model last winter. Fresh model with a dozon flights recorded and flys beautifully. I have only cleaned the aircraft, added a Proctor prop and stuck on some bullet holes. I can't wait to maiden this baby Tom is a great builder and I sure appreciate him selling me the models.
The other two are both 1/3 scale WW 1 fighters which still need completion, they are both half built. A Sopwith Pup and a Morane Saulnier. I am planning to purchase one of the Seidel 9cyl radials for those aircraft. The motor will half to be swapped between the two. Bill

Re: Fokker
Bill, that is sweet! A guy in this neighbourhood has has/had one. I know he put it into the weeds last year, and don't know if it is resurected yet. He hasn't learned to use his rudder properly and tends to torque roll his tail draggers on take off at least once in every two flights.
By the way, do you need some bullet holes to apply to it? I found some more when I was in 'The States' last winter.

OK, Bill. I don't think I have your address any more. PM me and I'll get some in the mail to you. Some day we'll meet, and I'll let you treat at Timmies.

Re: Fokker
Hey Bill,
Nice plane! Glad to hear Tom Hammond is still actively building, having owned a few of his planes. Get yourself a simple single axis gyro for HK and put it on the rudder and you'll enjoy many flights on your DR1. I have one built from Ziroli plans and that gyro turned it into a ----- cat on take off's and landings. Still have to stay on that elevator to avoid the nose overs though! Gary |
