Re: 42% Krill 330 / DA200 - Loaded to the Hilt
Wow thats impressive.
I happened to try one of these planes 1 week ago with a very similar setup minus gyro, smoke and a few other things but same servos, motor, etc. Its on cans too instead of pipes. The guy said it was about 46 lbs. The prop is a Mej 32x10 which I always hated and on that combo its ok, speed is very easy to manage and pull is good but I would put money on the table that this plane needs 12 inch of pitch. This is an amazing plane, I'm sure you guys will love it. Intimidating but lots of fun. |

Re: 42% Krill 330 / DA200 - Loaded to the Hilt
Great feedback Sebastien!! Radu had a Mej32x10 for it, but I agree with your thoughts - the 32x10 is too small and low on pitch. The DA200 on the RE3's I tested a couple years ago gained some pretty good power over cans. My favorite prop for the DA200 on cans is a F30x13 (but that's based on my flying style). I think on pipes, it'll love the F30x13W.
We'll see in due time - I have various props here, so we'll see what it likes and what Radu enjoys the most before we order the prop |

Re: 42% Krill 330 / DA200 - Loaded to the Hilt
Yes, 30x13 seems a good choice, def better than 32x10 IMO. If it was my plane I would go mej 31x12 evo or something very similar. If the DA200 can handle the fat 30x13W I'm sure it would be quite a combo too.
Again, that plane is amazing, it locks so well in any position. Torque rolling with it isnt even fun. After 3 rotations I just stopped because it was so boring LOL. The elevator authority is great. Ailerons were good but I would have guessed they would be stronger, they are so huge. A new thing I'm practicing this year is rolling harriers with a pause every knife edge and my CompARF 260 sucks big time compared to the Krill on that maneuver. 10 times easier on the Krill. My friend just switched from 1 tank for both carbs to 1 tank per carb and he noticed it takes longer to prime now and the engine requires choke for almost every startup. Food for thought as I don't see any benefit of twin gas tanks other than tuning the engine. |

Re: 42% Krill 330 / DA200 - Loaded to the Hilt
Sebastien... Do you still have that 40% Compy 260???
I was just watching video the other day of you smoking out the flightline at the Vermont Huckfest, LOL!!! That was a great event!! You must have 1000 flights on that airframe by now!! The kevlar hinges are probably worn out, LOL!! |

Re: 42% Krill 330 / DA200 - Loaded to the Hilt
Yeah I still have that plane and yes over 1000 flights of trying to break it These things are built STRONG.
Also yes the elevator phenolic hinges have been upgraded with the bushings they sell about 5 years ago. I don't understand why they're not built with them right away. The elevator servos (8711) have been installed in 2007 !!! Every other servo in 2008 when I got the plane. The 4 8711 on the ailerons have been serviced last winter though. |

Re: 42% Krill 330 / DA200 - Loaded to the Hilt
Unreal. You should do a commercial for CompARF like those ones on TV where the guys have a million miles on their Toyotas, LOL!!
If anyone has seen how Sebastien beats on his planes, they'll understand what I'm saying, LOL. Let's hope is Krill has the same longevity!! |

Re: 42% Krill 330 / DA200 - Loaded to the Hilt
Tonight's project was to get the (6) wing servos in place and the clearance holes cut out for the arms. I didn't know my fingers and hands were able to bend like that to get the servos screwed in And the root servo - had to pull out the tool I made up years ago for the CompARF to be able to reach in far enough to fasten the servo down.
Here's a few shots. I pulled a few Secraft 1.75" arms off my 120cc plane to see how it worked and also made up a temporary linkage. Tomorrow AM I'll order some 2" arms (1.75" is borderline) and ball links and 2.5" Ti Links to finish this off. Onto the stabs tomorrow. |
