Final word on FRCC Mag?

Stumbled across an old ad for the upstart FRCC Mag. Just wondering what the final word was with it? I recall an old thread about them "regrouping" (or similar......... too lazy to search for an answer)

From what I heard, whenever you say that name you're supposed to "make the sign of the cross" and softly say, "rest in peace"

well..I only got three copies I believe... maybe this was an attempt to highlite R/C in Canada, but it fell well short of the publisher's aim. As Chris said.... rest in peace.

Couldn't have said it better.

Kudos to anyone taking chances for what they believe in.

Ed,
as a person with obvious intelligence, you must know that many businesses fail and generally people lose some amounts of money (whether it be investors, suppliers of products or services, consumers, etc).

The fact that a magazine kind of requires people to subscribe and pay for those subscriptions makes it pretty difficult to fortell the future and see if you will get all issues paid for or not.

I was a contributer to the magazine, and I also paid for a subscription. I also did not charge anything for my submitted articles because at the time I knew a little about how difficult it is to start up a magazine, especially like Dean did basically on his own with mainly his money (subscriptions do not carry things too far).

The magazine business is tough. The hobby magazine business is even tougher due to the relatively limited number of interested people VS something more mainstream.

I applaud Dean for giving it a genuine try - I know he did not want things to go the way they did and its unfortunate as it was a decent magazine with much potential if it could have carried on. I believed Dean was an honest and hard working guy and really gave it all he had.

For us to complain about an issue or two (less than $10 at best) we didnt recieve is pretty rotten IMO. Its not like he retired off of our subscription money, he probably lost a lot more of his own investment than anyone can imagine.

Like I said, seeing any business fail is not pleasent. Maybe becuase I am in business for myself, I see things differently. I had a few lean years a number of years back where I didnt know if I was going to make it or not. I can relate somewhat I guess and I care more about the failure of the magazine than I do about me not getting my last issue.

Its too bad...

AJC

Zectly what Andrew said. I had a subscription and I will buy another in the next effort. The few bucks we put in is so insignificant compared to the money and effort by the owner I am embarrassed by the complaints. One day we may have a Canadian oriented mag, maybe not but I will support the efforts to get one going.
