Help finishing
Hi
I hope someone can help with my problem I painted my plane with latex paint, using a little Floetrol and thinning with washer fluid.I am trying to use water base Diamond wood finish varathane but the varathane seems to bead up on the surface as if there is oil on the paint This is a new can of varathane Sanding before doesn't help. Any suggestions would be appreciated iam experimenting first Thanks Allan |

Sounds to me like you have what they used to call fish eyes created by silicone (sprays like armour all) not from silicone tubing. Used to be able to get fish eye eliminator( actually adding silicone to paint) not sure if its still available check out your local body shop supply store

Before you shoot the whole plane, do a test piece. And see if the varathane stands up to yuor fuel.

Top Coat
I've used the same procedure (Varathane over Latex) and it's always worked fine. My suggestion is not to thin or dilute the Varathane at all. I've always sprayed it on full strength with success. I use an automotive touch-up gun and turn up the pressure about 5 psi.
Good luck!
