I managed to pick myself up a Spektrum DX3.0 radio system and finally got around to installing it in the car. The receiver is so much smaller than the previous one so there's more room to breathe. I also slapped in the Voltwatch to see more or less the state of the battery:

It was warm today so there was loads of slush outside but I nonetheless took the car for a test drive, fiddling with my newfound Spektrum system. It's like night and day! I don't know how I survived with the stock radios for so long...oh well.

Anyway, Mini-mo works quite well, but I need a camera man to capture the high(ish) speed runs.

Today I decided to improve the fuel delivery into the float bowl carb. Stock, the engine requires gravity to force the fuel into the bowl - which isn't a problem for the usual design appication (pocket bike). On Mini-mo, however, the fuel tank has to placed quite high to get enough fuel to flow into the carb. This is kind of awkward having the tank placed so high though for aesthetics, as well as stability.

To fix this, I simply added a pressure line coming from the exhaust going into the fuel tank:

Later I'll be readjusting the position of the fuel tank. In the meantime, I decided to scrap the muffler I currently had and use a few parts I had lying around to spuce it up:

Of course, welding doesn't always go as planned, but for the moment, this is what I had time to do:

I'll be adding some paint when time permits.

Mounted dual exhaust

Here's the temporary mounting of the exhaust pipe before it's finalized:

I think it looks decent - it sounds nice as well. Now time for the snow...

Snow pics

As promised, here's some spinning in the snow.

The snow was packed quite well so there was not much grip using Dirt Hawgs. I'm thinking paddle tires, spikes or at least driving it in less packed conditions would have been easier.

After about 45 minutes (when my hands got too cold), this is what it looked like:

I'll post a vid soon of the snow bashing with some doughnuts.

Neither would I. I shoved in some foam to keep any dirt out that gets through the main filter. Seems to be doing a relatively good job for the time being.

As promised, I've posted a clip in the video section here showing some bashing. Enjoy,
