thunder Pro .46

Hey evryone, I have an inverted .46 thunder pro which refuses to run anything but really rich. I cannot seem to get the revs out like it should and idling tends to load up....imagine that!

the engine has about 4 jugs of green 15% synthetic thru it and was broken in by an experienced fellow rc'er.(whom I bought the engine and plane from)

I have no idea what I am doing in regards to the screw inside the throttle either. the needle valve is set to about 3.5 turns out.
lots of oil and smoke out the pipe.

any feedback is appreciated.
one guy said I should check the fuel tank position?

tuning

Usually an inverted 2 stroke needs to have the low speed setting set almost perfect for this kind of operation.
I know you will get another post mentioning to hook up a low speed remote glow ignitor. Thats a bonus after all is set.
The way I do it is to set both needles up on a test stand first right side up
running the correct prop size. Also make sure the centerline of the tank is not higher than the main needle valve inlet.

can you tell me how to do this?

as I said earlier, I have no experience in the low idle mixture settings!

do you do main one first or slow speed? how do you know when you get that sweet spot? highest RPM then back a couple?

Thanks

You could try rotating the mount in the 4 bolts. Instead on inverted why not run on its side or straight up instead. Might alleaviate some of your headaches until you get some more experience. Also you could try resetting the needle valves to factory postion and go from there. Souund like the needle valve on the high one is out too far.
