There are two methods commonly used when one is confronted by a problem.

1. Place head firmly in sand and hope the problem goes away!

2. Resolve the problem by finding a permanent, meaningful solution.

The good news is that number 1 works most of the time!

The consensus of the (very) few people who responded, is that the offending words should be removed from the MAAC Safety Code. I certainly agree that the expression “3D” should never have been included at all. I do however fear that the removal of an item from a safety related document may not be quite as simple as it appears.

Now, just where did I store that bag of sand?

Dennis

Does this violate the new MAAC safety code??? The motor is running even though it looks like it is not.

But we didn't have a problem.

Chad, good for you!!!

Man, I've had my fill of "what ifs" lately! I went to the field and flew my .40 sized plane all by myself today. Now what if..? After driving for 30 minutes each way and I find no one there, I going to take a flight! Been too many Chicken Little's making big noise about nothing and then sitting back and probably laughing while the rest of us rip into each other about all this crap!!!

I agree 1000% with Ron. There wasn't a problem until someone got all heated up and made a big noise about nothing and then made a threat to the hobby! I consider anyone using the word "Ban" as a serious threat!

I'm sorry Chad but that isn't a clear enough answer. What kind of coffee is in the mug, Caffinated or Decaf. If it is caffinated than I am shocked that you would operate an aircraft while under the influence of a known addictive stimulant!! Coffee can cause the hands to shake, blur the vision and in extreme cases, where people are allergic, can result in serious illness or death!!!!!

I think we need to BAN (there's that "B" word) the use of coffee within 12 hours of flying. Indeed I think we need to take mandatory urine samples from pilots as they arrive at the field and forward to MAAC HQ for analysis! This may be a bit of a burden but I do not want to see our hobby destroyed by a few reckless hopped-up coffee addicts!

Removing tongue from cheek, why is not the Safety Code para 2 sufficient to address the issues of 3D flying? - Where established, I will abide by the safety rules for the flying site I use, and I will not wilfully and
deliberately fly my models in a careless, reckless, and/or dangerous manner.
