GP Piper cub and Saito FG-11 good combination?

I have a Great Planes Piper Cub ARF the older one with fabric covering and came across this small Saito FG-11 4 stroke gas engine.
Would this be a good combination?
I like to fly scale only so don't need lots of power just slow and easy.
Specs for each are below

In terms of power you would have no problems. This would also be a great sounding combination! If you haven't already bought the engine though I would do a search for some real world experience with these small Saito Gas engines. Seems to me that I recall guys having lots of trouble with some of the Saito gassers. Not sure if this particular model had issues but it would be worth checking. The Saito nitro four stroke motors have a proven history of being great engines and I would have no hesitation endorsing that combination.

I totally agree with the nitro 4 stroke being a proven motor.
But I wanted to stay away from nitro and this small gas motor would fit the bill.
Nope I haven't bought the motor yet I want some opinions first before I laid out the cash.

Re: GP Piper cub and Saito FG-11 good combination?

Derick, I have an FG-11 but it is still in the box. I just acquired an airframe for it and hope to mount it soon and fire it up.

Yes that sounds like a winning combination to me too. The Saito gas engines come with a weight penalty over glow due to the ignition system but the Cub has lots of wing to carry it.

A friend of mine bought the FG - 14 a couple of years ago and we spent quite a bit of time on the bench trying to get it to run dependably and just gave up. He sent it back to Horizon Hobbies and it was returned no charge and running really nice. No explanation came with it so still no sure what was wrong.
