Not all questions can be answered Yes/No.

Because I don't have one.
(the answer that Trevor was looking for).

For all others. A lot easier to remove/loosen the bottom cowl ring bolts through the cooling ducts. Better angle.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Let's follow along day, or a How-to maybe.
Under the cowl I find one of my pet-peeves. Bare ignition wires. I have seen where vibration has deteriorated the shield in the past. Even free-air.
Easy way to protect the shield.
1) Start be wraping with electrical tape. Sticky side out.
(trick, tag a little piece sticky-sticky to help start the wrap)
2) Tape a second layer, sticky-sticky.
3) then the usual spiral wrap.

I am ---- about this on new ignitions. I get about all my used airframes in need of this.

Arlene slept poorly last eve. So a lazy, comforting quiet day, here at home.

Re: The never ending engine thread, East-West

Here you go Trevor, glider snakes. I use them to anchor planes above grade. Safety first.
Next pet-peeve, no anti-seize on prop bolts/hub. Easy fix to getting a small amount into the threaded hub. A used ty-rap as an applicator.
For years I have been gathering used take-out carpet from sites. Now I go ask the carpet store for anything in there dump trailer. They are glad to get ride of it. I cut it to fit in my trailer. Then a few electrical straps as required to ty-rap wheels down. Most travel with one point (tailwheel) anchored, and glider snakes over the mains. For long trips 2hrs say to Drayton Valley. I might set an anchor to attach in two points.
A quick shot of my ty-rap holder. Makes them handy, and easy to know when to re-fill.
-Dale-
You can see the comp ARF only had one ty-rap for todays trip (25 minutes). There is an anchor point when needed.
