Re: Carl Goldberg Super Chipmunk

Well, unfortunately today I had a hard landing. Thumped down kinda hard, possibly caught a small divot in the ground....needless to say the right landing gear tore off and punched through the wing. At least I kept my cool and killed the motor and kept it from cartwheeling across the field

Sigh....

Nothing to difficult to repair. Just have to knit the time. Am away on business for the next couple of days so my Chippie has to take a back burner.

Took my one little profile up afterwards and was rewarded with a very successful flight!! Soooo....that's my first crash of the season and hopefully my last

Re: Carl Goldberg Super Chipmunk

Had two CG Chipmunks. A sixty size O.S. two stroke was in the first one and an O.S. 2 stroke engine which I purchased to run a ducted fan jet was in the second. The jet was built but never flown so I felt I had to do something with the engine! Back then the ducted fans were run by souped up 2 strokes. Not my brightest move but the plane flew well. Needless to say, I had enough power. When first put on the market, the CG Chipmunk kit was a good buy at around $125 or less. Cheers - John M.

Re: Carl Goldberg Super Chipmunk

Well, repairs are finally started. Between work and home stuff...you know the drill

Spent most of the afternoon over at a friends house doing the repairs. Letting the glue setup overnight and hopefully will finish the sheeting and monokote patches tomorrow. Total recoveringof the wing will have to wait until this winter. To anxious to get her back in the air!!!

Cheers,

Re: Carl Goldberg Super Chipmunk

Well, repairs were completed a week and a half ago. Then, I blew out my shoulder at work. One of life's curveballs I guess. So no flying, building or much RCC time since then. New shed in my backyard is still waiting to be assembled too. Sigh.....

On a good note(sort of) I did mange three flights at my club's 40th Annual Funfly this past Sunday. I paid for it last night but it was worth it to get out to the field again. Shoulder getting a little better so hopefully more flights at the end of the week!!

It's always great to get the Chippy in the air

Re: Carl Goldberg Super Chipmunk

I guess it is time to get in on this one, I have always liked the Chipmunk, my first control line plane was a cox Super Chipmunk.
Have a Goldberg in a box, and a no-name ARF that I ripped the gear off, so I am in the process of installing fuse mounts for new gear.
Has any one flown one with this gear configuration?
