IT FLIES!

5 years in the making and we can't believe it actually flys

Mike and I would like to thank everyone for their support and well wishes. Mike and I bought the Ziroli plans from Toledo April 6th 2001 and started actually building in September of that year. Exactly 950 hours of work (winter, once a week) later and an undisclosed amount of $, we finished. That's a 5 YEAR project!

Yesterday, April 29, 2006 we met at the Stoney Creek Airport (with permission) fired up the two US41 engines, warmed them up, completed a thorough preflight checklist, taxied out and took off! Winds were high and temperatures were low but the 46 lb DC3 took to the air without hesitation.

It flew beautifully! We needed a couple of clicks of down elevator and a few of left aileron but other than that, the flight was enjoyable and non traumatic

It lasted 8 minutes and the landing was made without flaps.

We would also like to thank Steve D for his support, knowledge and help as we moved along in the building process. Thank's RC Canada for providing us the ability to communicate with other builders and make new friends.

Congradulations

I myself am going to be building the DC-3 . Veiwing this only incourages me Isn t it fantastic howone feels when a project has been completed , just looking at youre pic s I can imagine how youguy s feel Ifelt good just looking at yours Although mine won t be as large as yours I m sure the feeling will be the same Isn t the Internet great so that you can share this experience Again Thankyou and CONGRADULATION
