100cc QuiQue Python Build Thread - COMPLETED

Well... I bit the bullet yesterday and ordered a 100cc QuiQue Python in the Kimball Paint Scheme.

Event though this is an ARF, I figured I might as well do a mini build thread on it - it may just slow me down a little so that I enjoy putting this one together.

Here's the link - I went with the Kimball Version, however the Brio scheme is very nice looking also!! There's some great videos of it on here also...
http://www.somenzini.com/html/aircraft/python.html

The plane is built very, very light for a 100cc - it's a fat monster, but it's a honeycomb structure - definitely a "one-whack-airplane". Due to it's weight, QQ has also come out with a DA85 Conversion for it - puts it around 25lbs complete with a DA85.

Here is the DA85 Conversion Document published from QQ...
http://www.rcmodelaviator.com/QQAC/DA85Conversion.pdf

Last but not least, here's (2) videos of the Python with a DA85 on Pitts Muffler - wow - power....

In terms of the cost, I paid $1195.00 US for the kit + $75.00 shipping to Buffalo, NY... it will arrive in Buffalo Monday and I booked the day off of work Wednesday Feb 20 to go and get it!!

I will use the following equipment....
* DA85
* KS-1090 Tuned Pipe with double bend flex header (25mm drop)
* 24 Oz Fuel Tank
* Prop to-be-determined + CF Spinner
* (4) 5945 on the ailerons
* (2) 5945 on the elevators
* (1 or 2) 5955 on the rudder - pull-pull (I'll probably try with 1 for now)
* Spectrum AR7100 on Smartfly Power Expander
* (2) A123 2300mAH, 6.6V packs for Rx and Ignition
* Smartfly Ignition Cut-Off
* Smartfly Ignition 5.2V Voltage Regulator

The videos show the great performance of the Python with DA85 on Pitts Muffler - with the Tuned Pipe, performance should be insane!!

Cheers

Wow... QQ uses a company call Bax Global to do their shipping to Buffalo - it was supposed to take 5 business days to arrive in Buffalo.

I got a call this evening - it just arrived and is awaiting my pick-up ---> not bad for 1-day delivery!

Road conditions pending, looks like I'm off to Buffalo tomorrow to pick up the might Python (we're getting a major snowfall here in GTA, so this may just get postponed unfortunately )

Cheers

Nice... which one do you have - the Kimball or the Brio?

I was over to Sarawnty's house last night - his Kirby's Kustom graphics really look good on the Brio Scheme and the front cowl engine baffling is amazing - nice job Steve!!

Cheers

QQ Python

Just a correction on the weight. QQ's came in at 24-3/4 pounds with the 85 and Slimline muffler. Not sure what mine weighs yet. Mine has 5955's every where except rudder. Rudder has a 8711. The 85 conversion is real easy if you follow their instructions. Steve

Steve... any chance you can post a picture of the baffle in the cowl - your use of screen meshing gives it amazing detail !!
