Elec EDF recomendation... Looking for first jet.

Hi all, just getting back into the RC thing after a few years off.

I'm looking for a recomendation for a first EDF jet, something fairly forgiving, and easy to fly.

I've looked at so many online, my brain is hurting, my eyes are glazed over, and I want them all!!! ALLL! ALLLLL!

An ARF would be ideal, doesn't matter on material. I looked at HK for some ideas, there was a really inexpensive EDF foamy under $60, but it had horrible reviews about the fuselage being squished in the packaging... I can't remember the link at the moment.

So any suggestions would be appreciated, cheers.

If yer looking for something that will work well right out of the box in a foam EDF then get a Habu. Great flight characteristics, very bounceable, easy to fix. They are very stable at low speeds but have a decent top speed as well.

Re: EDF recomendation... Looking for first jet.

Hobby king Jet tiger, threw the usa warehouse 85bucks but i see out of stock, I had one it flew pretty fast, but some complained of motor burned out after a few flights, but read that a sticker was covering one of the inlet cooling holes on back of motor and causing over heating, so i made sure to remove mine before I madian it, still got the edf unit running today in a home made modified chuck glider...also some complain the epo foam elevons where a little stiff, some re cut them and made tape hinges...other than me driving it 3 inches into the earth after i lost orientation...not a bad 85 dollar ducted delta wing...epo is repairable also had another few crashes because of bad thumbs but repaired, dont try to use bigger than 1500mah lipo or cavity must be cut and cg really gets out of wack fast with 2200 lipos.. good luck phase 3 f16 is nice from what I hear too...

Re: EDF recomendation... Looking for first jet.

I second and third the Habu. I'm on my 3rd airframe with pushing 250 flights on the original electronics. We get a little silly with the airplanes after hours at jet events. The airframes will last a very long time as well IF you can keep from having TOOOOO much fun* even if you do break the airframe, some CA and kicker has you back in the air in minutes. Performance is great, and they are a totally no stress airframe. Parts are easily available which is a huge benefit that you won't get with most of the hobby king crap unless you want to continually do mail order. (most shops I go into have parts for the Habu's).

* note: Too much fun entails:
- Touch and goes on asphalt without landing gear!
- Inverted touch and goes on asphalt
- Having friends hand launch for you when they are concerned about spilling their Rum
- Shoving glow sticks into the airframe to fly at night (hence the friend spilling their Rum) and not thinking to put glow sticks on the airplane that will be visible from head on or underneath
