fuel proof paint
Hello all . just a question on paint. years ago we could only get fuel proof paint in a few colours and it was called "dope" Its been about 30 years since I did any building (what a change since then) and at that time it was almost all control line. Any how back to the question. What other types/brands of paint are fuel proof. Have read in the forum that some people use auto paint lac. or enamel and others use paint from crappy tire. Have built a field box and it needs paint, real bad.

I used Tremclad on my field box with no issues for 3 1.2 years .... so far anyway
Though a touch up might be in order this year

I have found all of the "rust" paints I have tried are fuel proof.

- Dope is still available.
- The rust paints work well - Car enamels work well - Good quality acrylic is fuel proof up to 10% - Urethane makes a good fuel proofing.

You're welcome ... and welcome back to the hobby.
Some things don't changed, modellers are still generally good people who will go out of their way to help. Don't hesitate to ask.
