The way I see things
We have the Scale Aerobatics Committee to oversee Scale aerobatics here in Canada
We use IMAC rules, schedules, scoring etc for Scale Aerobatic Competition.

I don't get me wrong as I am new to scale aerobatics - but I did do pattern years ago.

Seems that if we are going to have a Canadian version of the IMA Club, where does MAAC Scale Aerobatics fit?
Who will be the sanctioning body, etc?
If we all join IMAC - Canada, ------

Seems to me that we have an existing infrastructure for aerobatics already - both F3A and Scale, and that the existing MAAC committee should be the logical start point for a Canadian IMAC group

Craig

Let me see if I can clarify things a bit.

IMAC is an international organization with members all around the world. The executive of IMAC happens to operate in the US. They accept memberships from modellers from the US, Canada, and from anyone anywhere else in the world who wishes to join.

Scale Aerobatics is a SIG [special interest group] here in Canada, that uses IMACs rules for competition. The Scale Aerobatics committee, governs Scale Aerobatics here in Canada and has decided that we will use the same sequences, judging criteria, and other rules within IMAC.

IMAC currently has 6 regions in the US, of which we as Canadians, are currently part of. We as Canadians, are requesting an additional 3 of our own here in Canada, for a total of 9. These new regions will each have its own director, who will represent those flyers in the region. These directors will also have a vote in making policies within IMAC, which will then be approved or denied by the committee here in Canada.

Hope that helps make things clearer.

Thanks

I understood all that, but I was just thinking about how to make it all fit under the MAAC umbrella also

IMAC Canada

Several of us up in the Sault are going to join IMAC this year
should we wait for the new organization to evolve?
would this allow us to pay in Canadian funds to our new district rep?
premature questions at this point I'm sure -

Craig,

Just to be clear, its not a new organization. Its the expansion of the current one into Canada.

Memberships in IMAC run for 365 days from the day you join. Because the organization is based in the US, membership funds are to be paid in US $.

Please have a look at the folowing link, and you can proceed from there.

My suggestion, would be to join as soon as you can, as this will help show we as Canadians, support IMAC and all it does.

Thanks

Lee (continued from the 3D thread)

I dont have a logo, and I doubt it will bring me any business but if you want to mention my name/company that would be fine. If you need a logo I could just scan my business card I guess.

One question, when we were at the Forest City Flyers IMAC contest, they gave both prizes for the top places in the contest and also most of the donated prizes were awarded later by a raffle to all participants (who were free to choose the prizes first name drawn first pick). That was a nice system IMO, as everyone went home with something. Randy made up hats for the winners (ball caps) and that was cool, but T shirts would be sweet too, with the NOIC logo, level (basic, sportsman, etc) and placing (whether we want to give just 1st, or 1st 2nd and 3rd?).

What do you guys think about that?
