Re: Resurrect Arrow 1/8 scale

I'm a bit lost now that all the jets are arf's. I really got into building something from a pile of glass, balsa and foam (back in the DF days). I'd love to build an arrow! Any chance in getting in on this?

Cheers,
Shaun

Replied to your pm Ken, and then I saw your post.

Waaaaaay ahead of you , , , , ,

I have a UP gear set, and it's no good for our size.

Some of the features of the gear might be of use, for re-designing.

UP has not made these for many, many, many, many, , , , , ohhhh many, years.
Sandro has already spoken to them. Who know's why it's still on their web site.

It would be better to have things that are readily available, like the Behotec stuff that Peter carries in stock.

Re: Resurrect Arrow 1/8 scale

Mike,
It looks like they are using a strut that incorporates air for lengthening on the out stage and retacting coming up. Is it a double acting cylinder for that.

Re: Resurrect Arrow 1/8 scale

Mike, I think that Ultra Precision may have gotten involed with the Houghton's Arrow project. Mainly because of the level of engineering that went into the gear as well a the kit itself. IIRC, the kit was somewhere around 1200-1500 just for the airframe, and thi was in the days when turbines were just coming into use as compressed propane burners and before the current generation of kerosene burners were developed.

Re: Resurrect Arrow 1/8 scale

Only 3 more to go!!!!
Phewwww, , ,I'm getting all stressed out with this project. . .

The moulds have been moved to a better heated shop now.
One of the challenges is that it has to cure for a full week before de-moulding.

Sandro was over last Thursday measuring up all the locations for the formers.
I did more work on the nose cone and tail cones. Sandro took them back, once again, for finishing.

Awesome work guys! From one Arrowhead to another. It would be great to see a project like this going out west too.

Re: Resurrect Arrow 1/8 scale

Mike,
What kind of epoxy are you using for it to take that long to cure? Just interested and they look good.
