Ya I know what you mean. All this stuff at once can be more than the brain can handle.

My advice is to get the plane motor combo shocky. Invest in lipoly. Then if you find you really like this stuff splurge for the best motor you can afford. HET has anouther motor out the T53D. I ordered a couple to see what there all about.

Would be interested to hear from some of the other guys that are flying Axis and Nippy blacks. Norsehammer has a great thread started titled Thrust, electrical load and rRPM data

https://www.rccanada.ca/bb/viewtopic.php?t=7919

It might be agood place for us to post data that will help us all make informed choices on or next project. For example post plane type, weight, motor, controler, battery type, propeller, approx run time and other items that let us know how the set up works. Would be handy.

Oily.

The shocky motor I read doesn't hover the plane well it hovers the plan just under full throttle with a 3s lipo...

**Quote JohnVH from RCU**

... Just flew it on the 3D power set with a 3s1200 lipoly, no good, will not hover. DONT BUY THE 3D POWERSET...

That can be seen in this post http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_15...tm.htm#1529847

Best Combo

Hi guys. I flew some Edge electric 3d thing that Bob Hudson brought up for the NOIC seminar. It was quite large and had Lipo batteries and a brushless motor. I flew it and was convinced
I have a GWS tiger moth and the GMS (I think) receiver and servos like Andrew has. The Tiger Moth is cute but BORING so I ordered from Great hobbies the E-Flite Ultimate 3d profile.
Since you guys are in the know, what do I need to complete it? Is the E-flite park 370 brushless motor any good? What prop etc??

I know what batteries I need, but this is all new to me too

The plane bob has is actually a tribute and great hobbies now carries em they are by e-flite, it's designed by world class pilot George Hicks. The 370 motor should be good and since you can't buy the plane without motor just try it out before you buy another motor. I believe it also comes with a prop, andf your flight pack will be fine, but you will need one more servo if I'm not mistaken, you would only have 2?

I might be wrong, but;

I think the plane that Bob is flying is an Edge 540 designed by Steve Johnston, here is a link to his web site.

These are great (and cheap!) motors if you are into saving a lot of bucks (and some weight). These motors are under an ounce.

Well boys, I decided to try the simple way first upon a few other's recomendations. I ordered the Extra 330 Shock Flyer with the stock motor, and 2 packs (3 cell lipoly) and a charger. I have some GWS servos and a receiver so I needed only a speed control.

I should have it next week and I will post my results (happy or sad ) but I know if I need more oomph I just need to purchase the brushless motor and controller. I thought I would try and save $200 first and see what I think...
