One of the very best online sources of general electric flying info I've found so far is here:

It may take you a couple of reads to start to "get it" but it's worth the effort IMHO.

RE: Connectors
For battery to ESC connectors I have not found anything better than Deans Ultra Plugs for anything from 10A to 50-ish Amps.

For brushless ESC to Motor connectors you should find E-Flite connectors or the ElectriFly bullet connectors at the LHS.

For your aqpplication, the 3.5mm size should be just fine.

Re: Electric 101

If you only have one motor and one speed controller, you can solder them together and avoid any problems that may be caused by connectors.

Otherwise 3.5 mm should be fine for 50 Amperes. Remember female on the speed control because you can insulate them better.

If you need a bit of heat shrink tubing PM me, electrical tape should be fine for a temporary connection. If the motor rotates in the wrong direction swap any two of the three motor wires. Do all testing with the prop removed. Futaba transmitters usually need channel three servo revered at the transmitter.

Ok soldering sounds like the ideal way to go with the unit I need to connect. Eric how would a Western Union joint be. (man grade 10 thats along time ago to remeber a wire connection joint) Have lots of heat shrink tubing but thank you. Resin core solder I presume or is it rosin core. Any connectors I have sourced are expensive compared to soldering . The deans will have them on their way tonight

Too much work, I just solder the two tinned wires together. If there is any pull on the joint then the firewall has come out.

I use 63/37, flux core solder.

Re: Electric 101

I had to look up Western Union Joint. If a wire (Quad/RG6/Cat5/Cat6/Camera) is too short I pull a new one. Always.

Thanks Mike I have found these on ebay just trying to find someone who doesn't want you to mortgage the house for shipping. One guy wanted $25.USD to ship from US to Canada ,Tops $5.00 in my educated opinion. With the application I wanted them for I think I will solder them as Eric suggested (Moo) just a small foamie motor and esc.
