What a Day!!!!

Finally, us flatlanders woke up to a PERFECT day for flying! It's been a long time coming. Hopped in the van and hiked off to Gimli MB "Home of the Model Fest". Recently the scene of a water ballet. Light winds, clear sky, good bunch of guys, all in all, worth the trip for sure.I'll try and attach a couple of photos as proof that the sun does come out once in a while.Pic#1 part of the flight line, #2 setting up, #3 P-51 low and over, #4 Taxiing out.
The P-51 is a TopFlite, Astro giant inrunner on 12s2p A123's. IT'S AWSOME!

Re: What a Day!!!!

you didn't mention the sound....it has speakers and an amp and has the sounds of a Rolls Royce Merlin startup, running at high throttle and shutting down...too kewl!

wish I was there...someone needs to stay up half the night with Wilf at the fire!

Re: What a Day!!!!

Did Turbo Jeff fly Wilf's Stinson, or did Wilf fly it today?

Re: What a Day!!!!

I, along with about a hundred other folk at the Vernon event, watched Don Frank bounce a Jetti into the runway during a low high speed pass at 150 mph only to fly away! He flew until the tank ran dry! Runway and plane are fine! Darnedest thing I ever saw...I hope someone caught it on tape!

Re: What a Day!!!!

Aw, you lucky sons of guns!

Hurricane Earl did and didn't do the GTA (Toronto region) a favour on Friday (great weather but a little rain) and Saturday (winds and some dounpours).

CNE airshow (aka CIAS) got cancelled on Saturday, as did the TEMAC fun-fly -- high winds.

Unfortunately, the Stinson didn't fly while I was there (headed home @ 4:30) It is a beauty!

Conversely,we got crap weather here for the weekend. Hopefully it will improve soon so we wont have to start feeling sorry for ourselves
