hey joe,

you always seem to understand the situation so well and your suggestion is right on the mark. when glorcs said they would allow the electrics trucks to run with the nitro they said they wouldnt be eligible for a trophy.

this was ziggys beef in the first place. all he wanted was to be eligible for a trophy if he places well considering he is paying the same entry fees as the rest of us, driving all the way to strathroy , paying for accomodations. we all know its only for a bowling trophy for racing toy cars blah blah blah but you see where hes coming from .

a very good suggestion joe.

Thanks Calvin, But its just a suggestion for the future possibly. I think we should let it slide for now since its too close to race time. They are trying to do a trial run and see how it goes. It might sound crazy to have 6 guys get trophies when there are 12 or 14 drivers. LOL everyone gets a trophy. The best thing would be to have enough electric MT to separate the class since there aren't a lot of MT mains anyways. For the Future i mean.

I think it is great that GLORCS is willing to start letting the electric monsters into the race. I understand Ziggy's point as well about earning the bowling trophy You go Ziggy!

I have built an electric 8T and am working on a Gorillamaxx G3R (basically a bad-** electric revo). I am hoping that, eventually, we can get to a racing class structure where it depends on what VEHICLE you bring, not the POWERTRAIN that motivates it. So, there would be a truggy class, buggy class, MT class, etc... I realize there would have to be some rules around pit stops in a shorter race (< 20 minutes) because the electrics would have the advantage with their battery life. However, on the longer races the electrics would suffer when they have to come in for battery changes.

I know I am in the minority on running the class system by vehicle, but, I guy can hope can't he? LOL

Anyway, kudos to GLORCS, let the testing begin!!

I like the idea of 1/8th electric, just not racing with nitro. They are two seperate ball games. Nitro is alot more difficult to get a handle on the tunning aspect of the sport. I think it would be a lot easier to pilot an electric 1/8th scale buggy a whole 45 minute main then it would be to pilot the nitro version(no flame outs). For the most part the electric buggy is turn on and go. The same can't be said for a nitro. I dont want to discredit the electric racers. Electric vehicles need to be tuned as well Just not in the same way. For this reason I dont feel that they could be fairly raced agains't one another. It would be interesting to see how they stack up. In my opinon they would probably be able to run quicker lap times.

Electric

Good points made by all.

In my own humble opinion, electric MT's should be subject to a 3-5 second stop and go (about the time it takes to fuel a MT). That is TAKING IT OFF THE PIT LANE just like you would a nitro MT for 3-5 seconds.

I can't make it out but will be sending my box stock Erevo out with Daniel for another truck out there for GLORC to fine tune the rules for next season.

Electric is the way of the future, who's going to be the first to release a RTR mass market buggy and truggy Losi or Associated???

I need to point out a couple of points here that may have been missed:
1) the electric vehicles will be scored separately, even though they will be run at the same time as the nitro trucks - this means that stop and go's will not be applied to them
2) although glorcs ENCOURAGES the track owners to provide trophys for the winers in each and every class, there have been and potentially could be events this season that do not provide trophy's to the winners. can I assume that GCH is providing trophy's to the winners of all the nitro classes? This, by the way, is outside of any discussion between ziggy and craig. If theres supposed to be trophy's at this race, there will be.

I can appreciate that this may be difficult to grasp by some but we need you all to be patient and supportive.

There are a lot of things that COULD be done and will in stride (if successful). I personally hope this succeeds as I will be looking to purchase an electric MT or convert in the fall.

Zoom Room said it.. Electric is the way of the future.. and if its anything like other RC fields.. then it will take over very quickly.

MT is the logical class to start this introduction as it presents us with an opportunity to make some mistakes and fine tune.

Glorcs is trying to be progressive here and we're criticized for doing this on a "whim" but we're equally criticized for not being quick to react or hear our members. Well we've heard you.. and we're action sooner than later.

As for the competition I disagree... the nitro motor is only one aspect of racing. You've got many other factors to consider aside from driving prowess. Suspension, tires, electronics, gearing.. electric motors present a whole new area of consideration .. such as gearing.. electric motors have far more torque and power.. one needs to address these appropriately.

I for one am looking forward to this addition, however again we must consider time. We HAVE to test this out because we have no way of predicting how long and how quickly this will develop.

We overlooked the point of award and agree that this needs (and has) been addressed. (interim solution)

I ask for a little support and patients. I appreciate all the recommendations and can only tell you we will be listening and watching very closely to determine how best to address electrics and competition.. it isn't just going to be the MT class as we expect to see marketed Truggy and Buggy production products very soon.

This "test" race is invaluable to us for a lot of reasons.

As much as we love forums () we encourage you to speak directly with us, our reps, or our tracks. Feel free to contact us directly or by email.

Cheers..

re electric monster truck debut at legacy hobbies glorcs race

well the glorcs race at legacy is over and after a good battle the electric monster trucks showed that they can more than hold their own against their nitro cousins.

ziggy355 ran his e -revo brushless and the thing was faaaasssst. he fought martin petre to earn a 2nd place finish in the a main. he had to come in to do a battery change at around the 16 minute mark of the 20minute race.

its too bad his batteries wouldnt have taken him the distance .( gotta get those thunder power 8000s bro)

thanks to glorcs for making ther call to allow the electrics to show their potential. and i cant wait until glorcs sets up an electric monster truck class next season as i think alot of guys will be interested in running in this class.

thanks to legacy hobbies for giving the electric monster trucks a chance to show what they are capable of on the track.
